Naming system for local identifiers of individual blood product units. The collecting blood service assigns the original unit number when collection is registered. The processing blood service assigns a distinct unit number to each derived component or aliquot. These identifiers support labeling, inventory management and product traceability; they are not ISBT 128 Donation Identification Numbers.
