HL7 Europe Common Cancer Model, published by HL7 Europe. This guide is not an authorized publication; it is the continuous build for version 0.1.0 built by the FHIR (HL7® FHIR® Standard) CI Build. This version is based on the current content of https://github.com/hl7-eu/cancer-common/ and changes regularly. See the Directory of published versions
This publication represents an initial, intentionally limited version of the HL7 Europe Cancer Common Data Model. It focuses on concepts that emerged as common across the contributing European projects and use cases, and it does not aim to cover the full oncology domain at this stage.
The current scope is mainly focused on adult patients with solid tumours. Other cancer areas, populations, and care contexts may require additional concepts, refinements, or extensions.
The model currently covers a common set of entities shared across several cancer-related initiatives. Some relevant areas are recognised as important but are not yet fully represented in this version, including:
The FHIR and OMOP mapping pages included in the Implementation section are provided as informative material to show the expected direction of future implementation work. They are not yet implementation-ready specifications and are expected to evolve in subsequent iterations.
Feedback from implementers, clinical experts, research communities, and European projects will be used to refine the scope, add missing areas, and improve the consistency of the model over time.
