Patient Demographics Query for Mobile (PDQm)

This section specifies Swiss national extensions to Patient Demographics Query for mobile (PDQm). PDQm is published as an IHE ITI Trial Implementation profile.

Scope

In the Swiss Health Dossier, the PDQm profile ensures that different systems can search patients participating in the Swiss Health Dossier by demographics and that the demographics data can be retrieved.

Use Cases

Search a patient by demographics

A Health App wants to search a patient participating in the Swiss Health Dossier. The Health App needs to provide demographic search criteria and can then retrieve patients matching these parameters.

Retrieve the EPR-SPID of a patient known by its social security number

A Health App has to store the EPR-SPID of a patient and to use it in all requests to the Swiss Health Dossier services. The Health App knows the patient by the demographics and the social security number (AHVN13/NAVS13, as stored for example on the health insurance card), but not by the EPR-SPID.

The Health App therefore performs a Patient Demographics Match [ITI-119] with the minimal set of demographics (name, sex, birth date) and the AHVN13 of the patient as a search identifier and receives the EPR-SPID of the matching patient in the response.

This national extension adds restrictions to the amount of query results if too many are found. Otherwise there are no extensions or restrictions to the profile actors and the transaction.

The Patient Demographics Supplier is not required to implement the Mobile Patient Demographics Query [ITI-78] transaction.
