Artifact Overview
Complying with this implementation guide means complying with a number of profiles, extensions, value sets and custom search parameters. This page provides an overview of where this information can be found.
These FHIR artifacts define the data that can be submitted as part of the required Consent operations.
The artifacts are of five types:
- Profiles constrain FHIR resources to reflect requirements for representing Symptoms
- Extensions define additional data elements that can be conveyed as part of a resource
- Code Systems define guide-specific terminologies to be used in one or more of those profiles
- Value Sets define the specific subsets of code systems that can be (or are recommended to be) used within one or more profile elements
Terminology Artifacts can be found on its own page.
Guide Artifacts
Capability Statements
Symptoms Logical Model
- Symptoms Logical Model - A logical model showing the elements of a Symptom that have been deemed important and relevant for capture and exchange.
Profiles
Symptom Profiles
- Symptom Observation - Used to record the presence of a Symptom as reported by the patient or a patient's caregiver. The Symptom observation contains all information given about a patient's symptoms.
- Symptom Absent Observation - Used to record the absence of a Symptom as reported by a patient or their caregiver.
Assessment Scale Profiles
- Assessment Scale Collection - A point in time collection of observations for a patient. This profile is used for exchanging a set of observation data collected through the use of a structured resource (e.g., assessment tool, instrument, or screen) with multiple questions. NOTE: This profile is a universal flavour of the PACIO PFE Personal Functioning and Engagement Collection Observation profile.
- Assessment Scale Observation - An exchange of post-acute care observation for a patient. This profile is used for exchanging an observation for a single question generally included in a structured resource (e.g., assessment tool, instrument, or screen). NOTE: This profile is a universal flavour of the PACIO PFE Personal Functioning and Engagement Single Observation profile.
- Functional Assessment Collection - A collection of observations related to a functional assessment of a patient. This profile is used for exchanging a set of functional data.
- Functional Assessment Observation - A single observation related to a functional assessment of a patient. This profile is used for exchanging an observatoin for a single question.

Cross-Version Analysis
This is an R4 IG. None of the features it uses are changed in R4B, so it can be used as is with R4B systems. Packages for both R4 (hl7.fhir.uv.symptoms.r4) and R4B (hl7.fhir.uv.symptoms.r4b) are available.
Global Profiles
