This IG is the result of a multi-year effort to address the challenges of identity management and patient matching in healthcare. The IG was developed by the FAST team of experts from HL7 and the healthcare industry, and it is based on the FHIR standard for healthcare interoperability. The IG provides guidance on how to use FHIR resources and APIs to support identity verification, patient matching, and digital identity management in the context of healthcare transactions.
