A numerical index based on an individual's weight in kilograms divided by the square of their height in meters.

Scope

Body Mass Index, the measurement of body fat based on an individual's height and weight and given as a ratio of kilograms per square meter.

This profile does not formally require or constrain that Observation.component be used for height and weight. It is acceptable to use either Observation.component to record these measurements or to use Observation.derivedFrom to point to explicitly recorded weight and height.
