This code system defines the following properties for its concepts

supply-failure supply-failure https://fhir.slade360.co.ke/fhir/concept-properties#supply-failure boolean True where the dose was not given because the drug was not there to give. These are stock failures rather than clinical decisions, and are escalated to pharmacy and counted.

held Held A clinical decision to withhold the dose, expecting to give it later. Carried as #on-hold, whose definition — temporarily halted but expected to continue — is exactly this.
refused Refused The patient declined the dose. Carried as #not-done, which it shares with #omitted; the two are told apart by the reason recorded, not by the status.
omitted Omitted The dose passed without being given. Carried as #not-done, shared with #refused as above.
nil-by-mouth Nil by mouth The patient is nil by mouth, so an oral dose cannot be given.
vomiting Vomiting The patient is vomiting and would not keep the dose down. Not HL7's reason-medication-not-given #d, which is the opposite case: a dose that was given and then vomited back.
observations-out-of-range Observations out of range An observation the dose depends on is outside the range it may be given in.
awaiting-result Awaiting a result A result the dose depends on has not come back yet.
prescriber-asked-to-hold Prescriber asked to hold The prescriber asked for the dose to be held.
patient-refused Patient refused The patient declined the dose.
unable-to-swallow Unable to swallow The patient could not swallow the dose.
adverse-effect-reported Adverse effect reported by patient The patient declined the dose, reporting an adverse effect from it.
drug-not-available Drug not available The drug was not available to give. A supply failure rather than a clinical decision: escalated to pharmacy and counted as a stock-out. true
