Scope

This is the Laboratory Report HL7 FHIR Implementation Guide for the XPanDH project, created to assist the work of the pilots for the XpanDH experimentation bubbles.

Introduction

Relationships with other guides

The following figure provides an overview of the general development approach and the relationships of this guide with the HL7 Europe and MyHealth@EU Laboratory Report FHIR IGs

Overview

Figure 1 - Overview

This guide has been created to support the development of the European EHRxF for the laboratory domain and not for specifying rules to be used for real systems. Other guides taking advantage of the work of this project are supposed to take this role (e.g MyHealth@EU specification for cross-border services).

A continuos co-creation and alignement work has been established for these three guides:

  • The HL7 Europe Laboratory Guide acts as common parent for any EU guide on this domain
  • The on-develop MyHealth@EU specifies how to use the report in the context of the cross-border exchange
  • This guide - derived from the EU one - is used to experiment solutions and rules for being used by the XpanDH communities
  • Findings collected and solutions experimented by the XpanDH communities are feedback to the HL7 Europe project.
  • When specifications are incorporated in the HL7 Europe guide; the associated rules are removed from this guide being inherited from the parent guide.
  • As applicable, the MyHealth@EU and this guides are kept aligned

The project

An overview of the project - including the description of some of the used concepts - is provided in the General XpanDH FHIR IG.

Cross Version Analysis

This is an R4 IG. None of the features it uses are changed in R4B, so it can be used as is with R4B systems. Packages for both R4 (hl7.eu.fhir.xpandh.lab.r4) and R4B (hl7.eu.fhir.xpandh.lab.r4b) are available.
