Scope

This guide collects HL7 Europe base profiles and other common (core) profiles and artefacts.

Introduction

This version of the guide gathers various kinds of profiles and artefacts intended for reuse across HL7 Europe or derived guides.

It includes:

• Base profiles aim to specify how concepts commonly used in Europe are represented in HL7 FHIR. These profiles, loosely constrained, are intended to serve as the foundation for any European-derived profiles.
• Core profiles, a set of more constrained profiles, are intended to be reused in the majority of EU REALM HL7 FHIR IGs. When reasoneable and applicable, the alignment with IPS profiles is pursued.

Distinct HL7 FHIR Implementation Guides may be created in the future to document these types of profiles.

This guide is published for two versions of HL7 FHIR:

• HL7 FHIR R4 Base IG (hl7.fhir.eu.base.r4). Published at this link.
• HL7 FHIR R5 Base IG (hl7.fhir.eu.base.r5). Published at this link.

Cross Version Analysis

This is an R4 IG. None of the features it uses are changed in R4B, so it can be used as is with R4B systems. Packages for both R4 (hl7.fhir.eu.base.r4.r4) and R4B (hl7.fhir.eu.base.r4.r4b) are available.
