Als gonadales Geschlecht wird die Zuordnung zum weiblichen oder männlichen Geschlecht anhand des Geschlechtsmerkmals „Keimdrüse“ (Gonade; Eierstock oder Hoden) bezeichnet. Aufgrund der Hormonproduktion durch die Keimdrüsen wird das gonadale Geschlecht deshalb auch als hormonales oder endokrines Geschlecht bezeichnet.
